Our life in Les Saintes II

The harbor from the town

We made new friends, Louis and Charlotte, who we met thanks to Jim for the worship of angels fruit (papayas). Lois was selling his fruits at the corner of the grocery store and we bought them all and also asked if we could go to his house to buy more in the future. With great joy he told us how to get there, and there we went.

We met his wife and one of his six children. He showed us his house, his land and papaya, star apple, avocado and coconut trees. His land extends to a few yards from the beach and from his house we could hear the waves. When we arrived he told us: "here is always in a hurry Louis", while coming down from the roof of the house. Over a delicious homemade guava juice we made our formal presentations. It was beautiful and lovely to share with this family. They also have all kinds of animals: goats, chickens fed coconut jelly, pigeons bred to eat, and their beautiful Diana, a long-haired chihuahua that awakened our desire to have a puppy at home.

Finally Chistian and Marie-Laure invited us to a barbecue on the Island Cabrit, exactly in front of Terre d' Haut. There we were in our dinghy. Everyone brought something: wine, rum, a cake, BBQ chicken, sausages, bagettes. Our day to eat everything and do cleansing afterward. There were about 20 people at the party that hardly knew each other, and the diversity of languages... Spanish , Catalan, French, English and Creole. We also spoke with the only inhabitant of the island, which had guests at his table and served as dessert Aloe Vera in syrup and lemon juice, incredibly delicious.

That Sunday night we welcomed our friends on board, all while preparing to leave in the morning to Dominica. Where cultural experience will be different and equally lovely.
